Today we headed up to Sun Peaks for our last snowshoe of the season. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky,  the sun was shining bright, the temperature was about 5 deg C and it was a fantastic day. There is a lot of snow up at Sun Peaks and the conditions were perfect; it wasn’t icy and it wasn’t sticky so snowshoeing was outstanding. We headed out of the village and not too far out on the valley trail we came to a snow cave that someone had built; see the pictures below. Then after going about 3 km we stopped for lunch just off of the snowshoe and cross country ski trails. After a few minutes we could hear a snowmobile coming down the cross country tracks which at first we thought was the trail setting machine; but it wasn’t. The driver of the snow machine went by and waved, he wasn’t going that fast but he kept looking behind. Well all of a sudden around the corner came a dog sled team of about 8 huskies pulling a sled, there was a lady all bundled up in blankets and the sled was being steered by a driver on the back. It was really neat to see and it happened so fast we didn’t have time to get a picture. After lunch we headed back to the village. For those skiers out there the conditions were amazing. No lift lines, the slopes were not busy and the snow was looking good. It’s hard to believe that a little over one month ago we were on a beach in the Caribbean enjoying 30 deg heat and sun. Well today was the first day of golf for 2009. I went to Sun Rivers with Dave H. and Bart B., the front nine was open with push carts only. It was fairly windy (as it always is at that course), however the temperature was quite warm and overall it was a great day. Quite a few big horn sheep on the course and in the hills surrounding the course. They have caused a bit of damage to the greens with their sharp hooves, but no too bad. Although we paid for 18 holes we only did 9 hole because when we came around to do the second nine there was a group of 7 lady golfers in front of us and they had just let a foursome go in front of them, so it was going to be a pretty slow round. Anyway, we took a rain check for 9 holes and are headed back tomorrow.

Today is Conrad’s 1st Birthday! YAAAAA! This morning after breakfast Conrad opened a few presents with a little bit of help from Sage. Lots of fun although Conrad had a bit of a rough morning banging his head and lip a couple of times while trying to walk….. he’s tough he will survive. This evening we’ll be eating a yummy cake that Mom and Namma are constructing (is this the correct word for cake decorating?). Attached are a few pictures from this morning we’ll get more up this evening.

Last weekend we were in Campbell River to attend a wedding for Kristin and Caley. Kristin is the daughter of our good friends (reunion group) Ross and Betty-Anne. The bride was given away by Ross, Betty-Anne, Colby and Cash. The bride and groom exchanged rings and then also gave small wedding bands to both young boys; it was really nice and very family centered. We stayed at Oyster Bay Resort which was a unique location right across the road from Oyster Bay. The resort has small cabins which are very well equipped, have a gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub and you have a view of the ocean while having your morning coffee in bed. The reception for the wedding was at the resort, so it was real easy to stumble home. Rick and Gayle (reunion group) were traveling with us and despite some snow/rain and other conditions that throw west coast folks into a tizzy we made the ferries on or ahead of time. Great friends and a great time!

Christine is my hair stylist at “Chatters – Headhunters” in Aberdeen Mall. So, today I was getting my hair cut and she announced that her Beau, Buck proposed to her last night and she showed me this awesome diamond ring on her finger. Now of course I forgot all the important things like how did he propose, when is the wedding, etc. ………… all those things that Brenda wanted to know and that us males forget to ask. Anyway, a BIG CONGRATS to Christine and Buck!

By popular request or is that a demand from the elusive Rana, attached are some “Random Rana Pictures”. The only caveat is that Rana must come over for dinner next time we are in Calgary, so we can get even more “Random Rana Pictures” to post.
