Congratulations Dean – FCA

dean-m-fcaCongratulations to Dean (Brenda’s brother) on receiving a Fellowship of Chartered Accountants Award. Fellowship is bestowed on CAs in recognition of the service they have provided to the profession and/or the honour they have brought to the profession. The FCA designation recognizes the member’s distinction in more than one of the following categories: the work of the Institute or a similar professional association; their career; community service; and research, teaching, writing, or speaking. Members are nominated by peers and elected to Fellowship by the Institutes’s Council. Dean has been involved in Prince George in many organizations, such as the tourism and convention bureau, the youth soccer program, the business association, the community foundation grant committee, the Women in Leadership Awards, the chamber of commerce, and a special favourite of his: the railway and forestry museum. So, a big Congratulations to Dean; Prince George is a better place because of your volunteer efforts, involvement and hard work!

R.I.P. – “Sammy” the Rabbit

sammyLast Wednesday was a very sad day in Princeton, especially for Sage. Sammy the Rabbit passed away. Sammy was 8 years old, which is a pretty good life for a rabbit; however it’s always difficult when a family pet passes on. Sammy is going to be buried somewhere in their yard so Sage can visit Sammy. Rest in Peace Sammy

“Conrad Drives the 1957 Land Rover”

Driving lessons start at an early age in Princeton. Conrad has taken a liking to playing inside the “1957 Land Rover” while his dad works on projects in the carport area. Yes, it’s all very safe, the ignition is off and there is no where for it to roll. It is probably the best fun playpen ever made for a child, there is no way he can open the  doors to get out, they’re just too heavy.  Attached are a few photos………. what an expressive face he has and was he ever pleased with his driving skills!img_4233

“Sage the Swimming Salamander”

On the way home from Vancouver we made a bit of a side excursion to get a much needed grandkid fix. As luck would have we were arrived just in time to head off to Sage’s swimming lessons. She is in the “Salamander Level” and she did excellent in the pool. They start by warming up with bobs and jumps and spins, then they practise jumping off the side and finally floating on their back by themselves. She was amazing……….. so confident in the water. Pictures are below.

Congratulations Lynette & Arjuna

Yesterday our niece Lynette married the love of her life Arjuna. It was a lovely ceremony at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby. A lot of family was able to attend and it was great for everyone to re-connect.  This was the the first time some second cousins had met and for other cousins it has been years since they had last seen each other. The ceremony was outside and was followed by a luncheon inside the Hart House. They had hired a three piece combo named Goby Catt Trio to provide musical entertainment, they were great. After the luncheon there were games outside and lots of time for visiting with all who attended. A few pictures are posted below.june-2009-256june-2009-260june-2009-268june-2009-275june-2009-272june-2009-276june-2009-281

George’s Newest Carving

My brother George was recently contacted by the Mayor of the City of Surrey do complete a carving for Prince Edward who was visiting Canada to hand out The Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The Prince’s visit to Surrey was kept real quiet due to security considerations however George was made aware of it about 3 weeks prior to the visit. As luck would have it he had already started a carving of a Mother Loon with a Baby Loon on it’s back. Brenda and I were fortunate enough to see the roughed out carving when George stopped by for a quick visit on his way home from 100 Mile House. This is the second carving that he has done for the City of Surrey; the first was a Killer Whale that was presented to a Chinese Delegation visiting the City. I have attached a couple pictures of his newest carving.prince-andrew-1prince-edward-carving

The Grand Children Come for a Visit (Parents & Nova also)

Earlier this week we had Sage and Conrad come for a visit (their parents and Nova also came along). It was a real treat to get some time with the grand children for a couple days. Actually everyone was here as Kevin was completing the road test portion of his Class#1 (see previous post). I had a couple golf games pre-arranged so I did not spend a lot of time with them during the day. However we were able to get lots of visiting and playing done in the evening. Brenda and Tamara went shopping on Tuesday so the kids both have new outfits for the upcoming wedding in September. They also managed to squeeze in a visit to Prince Charles Park Wading Pool; which the kids loved. On Wednesday morning they packed up and headed off to Kelowna and Penticton for doctor appointments. It was sure great to have them all visit. Attached are a few pictures.img_4110img_4112

WAY TO GO – KEVIN

A big congratulations to Kevin. He passed his B.C. Motor Vehicle License Class #1 Professional Driver test on Tuesday. He took his training with Columbia Driving School  that is associated with Thompson Rivers University Continuing Studies and has been commuting back forth from Princeton for the last 4 weeks. So, Tues day was a very big and exciting day for everyone here. He achieved a perfect score in both the pre-trip and the road test, which means he had absolutely no demerits. The examiner said this happens very rarely and he made a point of writing “Excellent Job” on the test sheets. The coordinator for the training program at Columbia Driving School was extremely pleased and he requested a copy of Kevin’s examiner sheets so he could use them to show other students. WAY TO GO KEVIN!

Picnic in Merritt – Grand-Kid Time

Monday we met Kevin, Tamara, Sage and Conrad in Merritt for a picnic and visit. Great Gramma and Great Grampa came along and everyone had a great time. We (Brenda and I) were in serious need of a grand-kid fix, so this visit was timely and extremely enjoyable. Little Miss Sage was as cute as ever and we had a lot of fun playing with her in the water spray park. Conrad was not feeling real well from a cold he picked up, but he did manage to have some play time with Namma and Grampa and then he spent a lot of time snuggling with Daddy. Trips like this are a lot of work for Kevin and Tamara, so it was great that it happened. We really appreciated the time we had with everyone. Pictures are below.img_40691
