Jeanine & Clay Wedding

This past weekend Brenda and I attended our Goddaughters wedding that was held in Cochrane Alberta. We drove out early and spent a couple days with Jeff and Lindsay and it was great to see them and catch up on everything happening in their busy lives.

I was the Emcee for the wedding so it was pretty busy the Friday before and on the wedding day. A lot of friends chipped in to help decorate the event centre, iron out the last few details and in the end it looked great. The Bride was beautiful and the Groom had a smile on his face you could not remove. They were the picture perfect couple. The wedding was held at the Cochrane Ranch House which is a fantastic facility; click on the link to see the Cowboy Mural… it’s amazing.

We also used this weekend to reconnect with our Reunion Group, but that will be in the next post.img_4447img_4461img_4462img_4464

Visit to Princeton

This past weekend Brenda and I made a trip to Princeton to visit the grand-kids and their parents. Tamara was off to Vernon on Friday morning to visit her friends Dave and Deb and to get some final supplies for their upcoming wedding. Kevin is currently off for two weeks from the mill due to market downtime. However he is on 24 hr call through the weekends with the volunteer fire department as a result of the extreme fire conditions in B.C. So, in addition to completing a “playhouse” project we were also there to look after the kids in case he had to attend a fire call. We got a chance to watch Sage at her final swimming lesson; she did really well at the Salamander level.  Pictures below are of the grand-kids and the playhouse project. Kevin has been working on this project for a while and it was great to be able to help him out and get it to the painting stage.img_4392img_4401img_4403img_4405img_4434img_4436img_4437

Maureen visits Kamloops

This past weekend my sister Maureen and her husband Art (oh, and of course the puppy dogs Sarah and Sadie) came to Kamloops for a short visit. They were in town for a 50th wedding anniversary. Brenda and I visited them at Knutsford Campground and had a great visit on Friday afternoon. Weather was hot but the shade of the trees at the campground certainly made it cooler.img_4385

Rube Band 60th Anniversary

Last weekend was The City of Kamloops Rube Band60th Anniversary. Rubes from across Canada attended the celebration. In total there were approximately 60 current and past members in attendance. Festivities started on Friday night with a Wine & Cheese get together at the TRU International Center; where we had a chance to renew acquaintances and reminisce about days gone by. Then on Saturday morning we all met at the Kamloops Curling Club to form up and parade (with a police escort) down Victoria St. to Riverside Park. After a few minutes to catch our breath and cool off we put on a 1 1/2 hr. stage show for the park audience. The band was looking good and sounding good………. best in years. The afternoon show was followed with an evening Banquet and Dance. Members who have passed on were remembered and stories that are unique to the band were shared……. what an evening. Sunday activities included Golf, the Wildlife Park and/or Sun Peaks. It was great weekend! In the end it was best summed up by emcee Claude Richmond on Saturday night when he said “Lots of Bands can play better than us”, “Lots of Bands can march better than us” and Lots of groups are probably funnier than us”; “But, No One can do it all and have been around as long as us”. That pretty well sums it up!

Thanks to our friend Roxy for taking all the great photographs……… below are a sampling of her pictures and her great eye for catching the  perfect photo op!2009-july-25-60-anniversary-of-rube-band0122009-july-25-60-anniversary-of-rube-band0472009-july-25-60-anniversary-of-rube-band0522009-july-25-60-anniversary-of-rube-band0022009-july-25-60-anniversary-of-rube-band048
