Trees are Blooming in Kamloops
Spring has definitely arrived in Kamloops. The ornamental crab-apple tree on our front boulevard is in full bloom. Actually the tree belongs to the City and was put in years ago…. probably 55+ years ago when the neighbors would get together and canvass the City to plant trees on each property owners boulevard. At one time the City would send over an arborist to prune them each spring, but we haven’t seen anyone for years. The trees are getting nearer to the end of their life cycle and are slowly dying off. We are now down to about twenty or so remaining on the street; from what would have been 40+ trees. The blooms last for about a week and it’s at this time that the trees and the street are at their colorful best. The remainder of the year they provide good shade.

Holland Bike & Barge – Bicycle Training
The last few weeks we have been progressively cycling farther each time we go out. All this is in preparation for our Holland Bike and Barge Trip which is coming up the first week of May 2010. More on the travel details, Company we are going with, friends we are traveling with, etc. in another post. Anyway, this weekend we piled up a few miles on the bicycles. Saturday we cycled 42 km and Sunday 44 km over about 3 hrs which included a lunch stop; this will be about the average distance that we will need to do each day while on the bike and barge. Of course when we are in Holland the 45 – 50 km will include plenty of rest stops, coffee breaks, sightseeing and it will be over the whole day. So we believe our physical fitness will be alright. We just want to make sure that we can keep this up for 7 straight days. Attached is a picture (self timer) taken at the airport which is our usual lunch stop. It’s a great location, we get to watch the weekend skydivers jumping from a perfectly good aircraft in flight and West Jet or Air Canada flights coming and going on their regular routes.

More Pictures from Princeton
Following Easter we stayed in Princeton for a couple extra days. It gave us a great opportunity to spend some fun time time with the grand-kids, plus it allowed Kevin and Tamara to head off to Penticton to have some quality time togther and to get some stuff done that is easier without kids. We had a blast and they certainly kept us hopping! Attached are a few pictures.

Easter in Princeton
Easter Sunday we drove down to Princeton to spend Easter weekend with the Grand-kids, Kevin and Tamara. It was a good trip, the roads were bare all the way and it was sunny day which always makes the drive more enjoyable. We arrived just in time for the Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny was very busy this year and all sorts of treats were hidden in the yard. The kids had their special Easter egg buckets and the hunt was on………… in the end the treats were divided equally and everyone got their fair share of chocolate. They also got some small Easter presents from us and great gramma and great grampa. Pictures are attached.
