Halloween in Princeton – 2009

A Very Scary Witch!!!!!

Conrad the Clown

Saturday morning we headed off to Princeton to have Halloween with the grand-kids. What a great time to see them all excited about getting dressed up and of course the promise of lots of candy from “trick or treating”. I stayed at home to hand out candy to the trick or treaters; there was only one little girl (and her mom and grandma) that came to the door. I wasn’t sure how many to expect so I only gave her one little chocolate bar, I could have given her the whole box as she was the only one that came all evening. Oh Well; at least I was here to keep Nova the dog company as he barked every time someone set off fireworks down town. Brenda helped Tamara take Sage and Conrad from house to house up in an area called 3rd Bench! Princeton has this newer area where all the kids go to trick or treat and some of the people told Brenda that they will get 150 or more kids in an evening. Sage was more experienced this year and was really into Halloween and getting candy, however this was all new to Conrad and he was learning lots. At the first house he tried to give the candy back and then after that as they went from house to house he was basically running to the door screaming since he can’t quite speak to the point to get “Trick or Treat” out of his mouth! Thank heavens he has an older sister who was doing that for him. Afterwards they came back to the house and ate a few things to get a candy buzz just before bed! Pictures are attached.

It’s Been a While – Lots is Happening

Yes it has been a while since we have posted, well that is about to change. Golf has been pretty good, except for a couple days weather has been not bad to excellent and we have only been blown off the course (wind, rain, snow flakes) two days so far in October. We survived the recent cool spell (down to -9C) and I believe so did our sprinkler system; the sprinkler guy is coming early next week to blow it out for the winter season. Kevin and Tamara are settling in to family life with Sage and Conrad (the two cutest grand-kids in the world). They have started a major addition to their home and are adding a garage where the carport was. Unfortunately they have been without gas (so no heat and hot water) for over a week and it looks like it will  be another week until Terasen gets it hooked up. Jeff and Lindsay are as busy as ever and Lindsay just finished a week long (more like a year long preparation) International conference hosted by Cybera on Grid Computing; it was a true International Event with conference delegates from around the world attending. We heard that she did an excellent job…. Way To Go Lindsay! Around here we have been busy with Curling season getting underway. Brenda is giving it try for a first time with the Thursday Ladies League; I know she will do real well. I am curling with Monday Seniors Select and will spare if I get calls. In other news we are starting a main bathroom renovation which will include adding a walk in closet in the master bedroom and we will also be painting pretty well the whole main level. We’ll provide updates and pictures as the work progresses!

Grand-Kid Time After the Wedding

Right after the wedding we headed back to Princeton with Conrad and Sage. Jeff and Lindsay came along so they could spend some time with their niece and nephew. Sage was the perfect host making sure Auntie Lindsay and Uncle Jeff saw everything there was to see in the yard and she kept them busy playing with toys, etc. Conrad was just excited to be included and to spend some time with his Uncle and Aunt. After Jeff and Lindsay left we were kept pretty busy and we kept the grand-kids pretty busy with walks to the park, the candy store and shopping for groceries. Mom and Dad made it home around dinner on Sunday and by all accounts they had a great couple days together…… sans kids!. A few pictures are attached.img_4778img_4779img_4798img_4805img_4822img_4823img_4826

Wedding Day for Kevin -Tamara – Sage & Conrad

On Friday morning, September 18, 2009 Kevin and Tamara were married. It was a very small but very nice ceremony at the Rose Garden in Penticton. There was a very small gathering of family and friends. Tamara was beautiful in her wedding dress and Sage was spectacular in her flower girl dress. Kevin was dressed in a shirt and tie and Conrad was dressed likewise as the ring bearer. After the ceremony there were lots of chances for photos and then it was off to Theos Restaurant for a wedding lunch. The weather was fantastic, there were a few tears of happiness and everyone is delighted that Kevin, Tamara, Sage and Conrad are now a family. Congratulations! Below are a few pictures of the day.kevin-tamara-sept-18-09-032kevin-tamara-sept-18-09-030kevin-tamara-sept-18-09-047

Sage & Conrad come for a Visit

Last Thursday Sage and Conrad came for a quick visit. Mom and Dad had some personal stuff to get done in Kamloops and so they dropped off the grand-kids for a couple of hours……. it was great. We went to Prince Charles Park and let them use the playground equipment. Unfortunately the Wading Pool is closed for the season. Then we headed down to Riverside park and after a bit of a play on some of the slides, rides, etc. we headed down to the beach. We rolled up the pant legs and let them wade in to the river. In no time flat their pant legs were soaked and of course they were having a lot of fun. Mom and Dad showed up so we headed back home for lunch and then everyone headed back home to Princeton. It was a fun day for Namma and Grampa. Attached are a few pictures………. enjoy!img_4476img_4477img_4482img_4483img_4486img_4492

Visit to Princeton

This past weekend Brenda and I made a trip to Princeton to visit the grand-kids and their parents. Tamara was off to Vernon on Friday morning to visit her friends Dave and Deb and to get some final supplies for their upcoming wedding. Kevin is currently off for two weeks from the mill due to market downtime. However he is on 24 hr call through the weekends with the volunteer fire department as a result of the extreme fire conditions in B.C. So, in addition to completing a “playhouse” project we were also there to look after the kids in case he had to attend a fire call. We got a chance to watch Sage at her final swimming lesson; she did really well at the Salamander level.  Pictures below are of the grand-kids and the playhouse project. Kevin has been working on this project for a while and it was great to be able to help him out and get it to the painting stage.img_4392img_4401img_4403img_4405img_4434img_4436img_4437

Maureen visits Kamloops

This past weekend my sister Maureen and her husband Art (oh, and of course the puppy dogs Sarah and Sadie) came to Kamloops for a short visit. They were in town for a 50th wedding anniversary. Brenda and I visited them at Knutsford Campground and had a great visit on Friday afternoon. Weather was hot but the shade of the trees at the campground certainly made it cooler.img_4385

Sage and Conrad – Summer Vacation 2009

This past week we had Sage and Conrad come for a Summer Vacation. We met Kevin, Tamara, Sage and Conrad in Merritt at the D.Q., Mom and Dad dropped  off the kids and they headed off camping. We had lunch and that gave the two of them lots of time in the D.Q. play area. It was a very busy week and everything was geared towards fun stuff for kids. The most popular activity was the Wading Pool at Prince Charles Park. Sage could spend her entire summer playing there. She always meets lots of new friends and she loves the water. Conrad was just happy to run around the edge and play in the water jets that fill the pool. Other fun stuff included “Music in the Park” at Riverside Park and the playground area, the Wildlife Park, dinner with Great Gramma and Great Grampa, playing with the water hose filling the canoe in the backyard, watering Namma’s flowers, lunch at McDonalds and the large play area there….. Oh YA! and lots of whipped cream on anything you want to eat. Enjoy the pictures below.img_4254img_4251img_4258img_4260img_4268img_4278img_4356
