Sunday in Calgary

Sunday was a pretty laid back day in Calgary. We started out by walking over to a Stampede Pancake Breakfast at the Scenic Acres Center. Lots of people, a band and really good food. The Scenic Acres Community Association did a great job….. Thanks

After breakfast we went for a drive to Baker Park, this is where Jeff and Lindsay were married almost one year ago.img_0653

From Baker Park we hiked across the Bow River to Bowness Park. img_0657Bowness has great hiking trails; good paths, good elevation change and good eating for the mosquitoes, especially nearer the Bow River.

Tonight is a steak dinner , a Family photo and then packing for the trip home.

More later……… Enjoy!

The Calgary Stampede

We had a great day on Saturday. It started with a great omelet breakfast prepared by Jeff; if you haven’t had one of Jeff’s omelets then you haven’t eaten. Seriously, he should get out of the electrical engineering and computer web blog design business and start an “Omelet Restaurant”.

So at Saturday’s Stampede we visited a lot of the exhibits early and people traffic wasn’t too bad. We were there with Jeff and Lindsay. I was able to pick up some more Canadian Military wrist bracelets from the Calgary Military Family Resource Center. This is a great group of volunteers and military folks who are there as support for families who’s loved ones are away serving their Country. Whether or not you support the military, there are still families left behind with loved ones that need your support. So check the web site out MFRC.

The highlight of the day was attending the Heavy Horse Show followed by the Open Team Cattle Penning. The Heavy Horse Show was an unplanned surprise, we really enjoyed it. The Calgary Symphony Orchestra played during the showing of the teams and for a victory lap by the first place winner. This was immediately followed by the Open Team Cattle Penning. A Calgary Stampede record was set where a team of three riders were able to separate (cut from the herd) three numbered cows in a time of 16:63 secs! WOW!img_3838

The evening ended with a great dinner at Van Gogh’s Restaurant in Valley Ridge!

Thanks Jeff and Lindsay for a great day!
