Fishing in our Red Canoe

This year we have gone fishing a few times at a couple local lakes; Paul Lake and Pinantan Lake. Fishing was not bad the first time we went to Paul Lake, except for the fact where we launched our canoe at the Government campsite the locals were having an Annual Fishing derby so it was tough getting the canoe back to the car. After that we tried another launch area which worked better but fishing was spotty and it was windy/gusty so we end up getting blown around in our little red canoe.Paul Lake

So then we tried Pinantan Lake which is a little further up the road and we have done quite well. The first time we caught or got 8 fish to the boat the largest being about a 2 lb trout that Brenda caught and the average around 1 lb and a few “dinks” as Kevin calls them. They all put up a pretty good fight as we are only using light rods and only a small “flatfish” or “hot shot”. Plus we never keep any, so it’s all catch and release…………. too much work and their slimy. Of course we forgot the camera and so the picture of Brenda’s fish was taken with our cellphone. We make a day of it take a lunch and always enjoy ourselves.

Busy! Busy! Busy!

Well have we been busy or what? We are trying to get the renovation to our basement suite finished and it seems to be dragging on. Or, as someone once said “It feels like death by a thousand duck bites”! Anyway, we are very close to finishing, but it is definitely the small stuff that is taking the time. It’s the old 80-20 Rule firmly in play here. Sill & Sill on Homes – we are renovation experts!

Tomorrow we are off to Vancouver for the night. Then over to Vancouver Island and Horne Lake for our Annual Reunion with Good Friends from the past 30+ years. Sunday we head back to Vancouver to spend a couple days seeing the sights and sounds and food of Vancouver with Dean & Judy (Brenda’s brother and his wife). Tuesday night we have tickets to Monty Pythons Spamalot at the Arts Center in Vancouver; it promises to be lots of laughs. We’ll give you a full report when we return.

Home to Kamloops

Well, we made it home safe and sound to Kamloops. Thanks Jeff and Lindsay and Willow for a great weekend. We got an early start so highway traffic wasn’t too bad, even though it is the start of the summer holiday season.

The Rockies were spectactular as usual, a few clouds and it looked like it might rain but it never did.img_0643

Tonight is catch up from being away and it is time to plan for the next adventure.

Welcome to Our Log

This is our log and our first post. Our son Jeff set this up for us and we really appreciate his support. Our heads are spinning after watching him move from page to page and from site to site. So, we have enough knowledge to be confused and will learn our way through the rest. Thanks….. Jeff

We plan to keep a regular log (journal) of our activities, travels and life in general. Retirement promises to be a busy and exciting time.
